Overview
Corporate Controller: Real Estate Development and Private Equity What you'll be doing / the role: Due to continued growth, we are seeking a
Corporate Controller
to manage the corporate accounting department focused on financial reporting, audit/tax management and treasury functions for our Operating Company, development projects and real estate private equity investment vehicles. The Operating Company divisions oversee development and management of multifamily properties along with management of real estate private equity investments. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Ensure accurate and timely monthly and quarterly accounting and reporting for management, executive teams, and investors.
Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies, ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
Coordinate/assist FP&A in the development of budgets and forecasts for Operating Company and investment vehicles.
Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing corporate accounting team.
Oversee centralized Concur and treasury functions across multiple banking relationships.
Oversee development accounting and construction draws for multiple projects.
Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
Manage accounting for private equity investment vehicles along with external investor reporting requirements.
Drive automation and scalable accounting processes to enhance reporting efficiency, reduce manual effort, and improve real-time decision-making.
Ensure accounting technology conversions are accurate, timely and within budget.
Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and competing demands; strong time management and prioritization skills.
Qualifications:
Master’s / bachelor's degree in accounting required.
CPA certification required
Minimum of 7 - 10 years of experience – combination of public accounting, real estate development and private equity.
Strong leadership and organizational skills focused on building an engaged and efficient team.
Prior experience with consolidations and equity method of accounting, development accounting, fund accounting, treasury management and investor reporting.
Prior experience with business transformations focused on people, processes, and technology.
Proficiency in technology solutions including Excel, PowerPoint, Yardi or MRI, along with treasury and investor relations platforms.
Critical thinking, analysis, and problem solving.
Prior experience with acquisitions and complex ownership structures.
