Chief Medical Officer, (CMO) - Part Time
Position: Chief Medical Officer, (CMO) - Part Time at Maria Parham Health. The role provides leadership for all phases of the company's operations with emphasis on long-range goals, growth, profit, and return on investment. It is a member of the executive team and is responsible for leadership and vision for enterprise strategic planning with a focus on quality, patient safety, and value-based programs. Reports to: Chief Executive Officer. Responsibilities
Quality and patient safety (including culture). Utilize data to plan, recommend, and direct opportunities to optimize hospital resource utilization and influence Medical Staff practice changes to achieve clinical outcomes and financial viability. Coordinate care changes based on evidence-based clinical guidelines; educate physicians and develop/revise standard order sets. Collaborate with Duke LifePoint on quality initiatives to ensure safe patient care; regularly meet with the CMO of Duke LifePoint and contribute to improvement opportunities. Engage in antibiotic stewardship program development. Work with Hospital Services Committee initiatives (e.g., surgical consent form, EMTALA form standardization). Participate in regularly scheduled Duke LifePoint Clinical Engagement meetings. Provide clinical insight into strategic planning and operations to drive efficient patient flow. Advise and align medical staff governance; oversee credentialing and privileging processes. Lead physician development and engagement initiatives and coordinate integrated teams to reduce unwarranted practice variation. Oversee medical staff services, peer review, and continuous performance monitoring; ensure bylaws evolve to meet regulatory and accreditation needs. Promote regulatory compliance and support surveys by regulatory bodies (Joint Commission, State Health Department). Coordinate with leadership to develop new service lines or enhance current ones; drive growth of GME program at Maria Parham. Participate in Executive Patient Safety Rounds and Interdisciplinary Team Rounds as appropriate. Work with Medical Staff Office to ensure efficient credentialing processes; engage in risk management and clinical technology initiatives. Translate administrative imperatives into clinical strategy and oversee program and service line growth, aligning acute care with the broader care continuum. Lead and participate in committees and collaborations with executive leadership to support strategic direction of Hospital as it relates to Medical Staff. Education and Qualifications
Required Education : Doctor of Medicine is required. Required Skills
