Position Title: Network/System Administrator II
Duties And Responsibilities The Air Force (AF) Special Access Program (SAP) Security Support Services (SSS) supports the AF cognizant security authority in oversight of enhanced National Security Objectives supporting AF SAP interests through active and integrated security operations, processes, mechanisms, and management. This support provides multi-disciplinary security support, including specialized analytical/program protection support, while being responsive and flexible to dynamic SAP security situations.
The primary function is to organize, install, and support government organization computer systems, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems. This also includes helping architect, design and analyze network models. This role may participate in decisions about buying future hardware or software to upgrade the organization\'s infrastructure. It may also provide technical support to computer users to help solve problems. The position will support activities within Special Access Programs (SAPs) supporting DoD agencies (e.g., HQ Air Force, Office of the Secretary of Defense) and provide day-to-day support for Collateral, SCI, and SAP activities.
Operate under minimal supervision.
Execute day-to-day management and operations of systems and networks.
Manage COTS & GOTS products to collect, display and remediate a variety of automated system security and system operations/performance functions and metrics.
Follow Operations and Maintenance (O&M) checklists; build Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) associated with service checklists.
Operate monitoring tools and SIEMs; create/tailor complex event alarms/rules and summary reports.
Assist in analyzing technical risk, upon request, of emerging cybersecurity tools and processes.
Work as part of a security incident response team as needed.
Demonstrate working technical competency in one or more of the following: Windows Server, RHEL, hypervisors (Hyper-V/VMware/ESXi/Xen), enterprise networking/firewalls/intrusion detection/prevention systems, forensic analysis/vulnerability assessment, Group Policy management, scripting, SIEMs, vulnerability scanners, and related security technologies.
Knowledge And Qualifications
3-5 years of related experience.
Bachelor's degree in a related area OR Associate's degree in a related area + 2 years' experience OR equivalent experience (Desired).
Must meet DoD Directive 8570.01-M for Information Assurance Technician Level II within 6 months of hire.
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems, Microsoft Exchange Server, and, as needed, RHEL administration and related hardware.
Working knowledge of CISCO networking and virtualization technologies.
Working knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies and data backup technologies including COMSEC integration.
Must be familiar with DoD policy as it applies to system and network administration.
Working knowledge of PL2 and PL3 network environments/systems.
Experience providing technical support in a customer service role.
Experience applying standards and best practices in an enterprise Windows environment.
Ability to solve technical problems quickly and identify opportunities to automate repetitive processes.
Working knowledge of WSUS and/or YUM patch deployment methodologies.
Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
SAP experience required. Prior Air Force experience is a plus.
