Network/Systems Administrator II Responsibilities

Organize, install, and support government organizations’ computer systems, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems. Help architect, design, and analyze network models; participate in decisions about purchasing future hardware or software to upgrade infrastructure. Provide day-to-day technical support to computer users to help solve problems. Support activities within Special Access Programs (SAPs) for DoD agencies (e.g., HQ Air Force, OSD, Military Compartments) and provide day-to-day support for Collateral, SCI, and SAP activities. Lead IT operations on day-to-day management of networks and implement capabilities vetted through Cybersecurity, ISSE, and higher HQ to maintain RMF/JSIG Authority to Operate and Continuous Monitoring tools and processes. Manage COTS and GOTS products to collect, display, and remediate various automated security and operations/performance metrics. Assist during security assessments of servers, network devices, and security appliances; assist with improving accuracy and efficiency during assessments. Create O&M checklists (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly) and develop TTPs and SOPs associated with service checklists. Operate monitoring tools and SIEM capabilities; tailor complex event alarms and reports. Execute cybersecurity operations procedures for daily network management, operations, and maintenance. Monitor and analyze output of cybersecurity tools for security incidents and residual risk. Assist in analyzing risk of emerging cybersecurity tools and processes; participate in security incident response as needed. Assist ISSM/ISSO/ISSE with development of techniques to improve confidentiality, integrity, and availability across networks and systems at various classifications. Demonstrate advanced technical competency in platforms such as Windows Server, Active Directory, RHEL, hypervisors, firewalls/IDS/IPS, forensics, vulnerability assessment, GPO, scripting, database security, and web server security. Utilize toolkits and SIEMs (e.g., LogRhythm) and vulnerability scanners (ACAS/Nessus/SCAP); apply RBAC concepts and related security controls. Perform other duties as assigned. 3-5 years related experience. Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalent experience (4 years). Certification Requirements

Must meet position and certification requirements outlined in DoD Directive 8570.01-M for Information Assurance Technician Level 2 within 6 months of hire. Prefer an IAT Level III certification (e.g., CASP, CISSP). Security Clearance Requirements

Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility. Eligibility for access to Special Access Program information. Willingness to submit to a Counterintelligence polygraph. Other Requirements

Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems, Microsoft Exchange, and, as needed, RHEL administration and hardware. Effective communication and collaboration in a high-performance team environment. Group Policy design and configuration. Working knowledge of Cisco networking, switching, and virtualization technologies. Working knowledge of virtualization for users, operating systems, and network appliances. Working knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies and data backup technologies. Working knowledge of COMSEC policies and integration; Risk Management Framework and assessments/authorization. Familiarity with PL2/PL3/PL4 environments; patch deployment methods (WSUS/YUM). Must be familiar with DoD policy on system and network administration; ability to work at a physical location and traverse between buildings when required. Ability to manage stress with professionalism; demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, and teamwork; strong verbal and written communication skills. All Level I & Level II positions – candidate should possess some SAP experience. All Level III positions – candidate should possess 2+ years of SAP experience. The anticipated compensation range for this position is $91,811 - $122,590. Final salary determined by factors including experience, education, and certifications.
