Overview
The Aquatics Director is responsible for preparing and administering the departmental budget, coordinating swim lessons and Safe Start, as well as developing new programs. The Aquatics Director will manage the Aquatics staff, including hiring and training, and ensure that all safety and risk management procedures are followed. Responsibilities
Meet all assigned program enrollment and quality benchmarks by marketing and promoting the Aquatics Program. Develop new aquatic programs on-site and off-site; meet or exceed enrollment goals. Assist the Executive Director in the Annual Campaign to exceed dollars, donors and volunteers goals. Ensure the Aquatics Program follows YMCA standards, policies, protocols and guidelines, and complies with state and local codes. Provide oversight of the Swim 4 Jenny week and assist with the Mobile Aquatics Van schedule. Oversee, with the Director of Competitive Swim Programs, the swim team at Family Center. Prepare and control the annual income and expenses for the Aquatics Department budget. Coordinate participant schedules for each season and class. Maintain safety, risk management and emergency procedures; keep accident reports and relevant records. Recruit, hire, train and manage staff; audit lifeguard skills and certifications and ensure in-service documentation meets policy standards. Provide training to staff in lifeguarding, CPR, first aid, and oxygen administration. Contribute to member communications materials and in-house information. Maintain clean, safe and orderly program areas at the YMCA and off-site locations. Serve as a member of the management team as MOD and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Health, Physical Education or related field preferred. Minimum of 2–4 years of aquatics program experience with a budget exceeding $250K. Must be at least 21 years old. Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience. Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact with individuals at all levels. Ability to respond in safety and emergency situations. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; organized and detail-oriented. Certifications
YMCA Lifeguard Certified or Red Cross Lifeguard Certified; Certified Pool Operator (CPO or AFO) and Swim Instructor Certified, required within 30 days. First Aid/CPR/AED, CPRO and oxygen administration certified. YMCA Team Leader certification preferred but not required. Job details
