Job Summary

Serve as subject matter expert for area of expertise/segment. Design and implement complex projects focused on new products, processes, ingredients, and continuous improvement. Coach junior members of R&D to foster professional growth and teach knowledge associated with statistical analysis, Design of Experiment, and Statistical Process Control. Deep understanding of emerging technologies, both segment specific and industry innovation, to help create new opportunities and anticipate future consequences and trends accurately.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Design and implement complex projects focused on new products, processes, ingredients and continuous improvement. Develop new products to meet consumer needs; research product acceptance with consumer. Influence and collaborate cross-functionally to drive the Customer to Concept process to bring new products to market. Proactively maintain existing products through new suppliers, alternate ingredients, and process improvement. Author comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures, Ingredient Specifications, Formulas, Semi Finished Good Specifications. Collaborate within R&D and with cross functional partners. Coach junior R&D members to foster professional growth. Serve as subject matter expert for an area (segment) of expertise. Travel required as needed for business; communicate with supervisor when not manageable.

Education & Experience

7+ years of food Industry experience PhD/Masters/Bachelor of Science/Engineering degree in relevant scientific field of study Certifications highly beneficial

Skills & Competencies

Deep technical knowledge of food science, sensory science, and/or data analysis. Deep understanding of emerging technologies and segment specific and industry innovation to help create new opportunities Complete understanding of a technical segment of products and the relationship with Customer and Consumer needs. Extensive knowledge of products, formula, and ingredients. Capacity to use and teach statistical analysis, Design of Experiment, and Statistical Process Control. Demonstrative ability to use root cause analysis tools. Knows the competition and is aware of how strategies and tactics work in the business; can anticipate future consequences and trends accurately.

The pay range for this position is $124,000 - $130,000. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location.
