Overview

Technical Director - Environmental Science for WSP. Full-time leadership role to support environmental operations in Shelton and Glastonbury, CT offices, guiding projects within the Earth and Environment Team and contributing to a growing organization that meets client objectives. Your Impact

Lead complex environmental projects, ensuring teams understand tasks, manage budgets, monitor hours and expenses, ensure profitability, and supervise subcontractors, contract work, and staff. Provide proactive and strategic leadership for the scientific discipline; ensure project and site deliverables meet quality standards. Develop business with existing and new clients; scope, budget and manage projects (including Phase I/II/III ESAs). Prepare proposals and contribute to multi-disciplinary project teams across siting, licensing, natural resource planning, and management. Foster compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local environmental laws and regulatory requirements. Support long-term strategy, growth, and pipeline development in Environmental Science for the assigned area, across planning, design, strategic consulting, and program management. Lead technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings; assist with annual updates to business tactical action plans. Ensure discipline certifications and accreditations are developed and continually improved. Perform needs analyses and client value surveys to align science function with business strategy and address skill gaps or risks. Schedule discipline meetings, provide updates, and promote discipline expertise and innovation in project work. Represent the scientific discipline to external entities (federal, state, local agencies, clients, subcontractors, industry groups, and community entities). Develop and inform proposal and project scopes, timelines, pricing, and budgets; interpret data to support sound regulatory conclusions and minimize environmental health impacts. Develop a client base for high-level Environmental Science services, identifying additional opportunities and cross-selling WSP capabilities. Lead and mentor assigned staff; stay current with environmental science techniques and practices; collaborate across disciplines to deliver trusted advisor solutions. Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company funds and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or related life sciences field. 12+ years of experience in the environmental consulting field. Strong knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping; understanding of business impact. Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills; ability to interact effectively with all organizational levels. Analytical, detail-oriented, with effective prioritization under pressure. Ability to coordinate with diverse stakeholders including senior management, clients, and staff without formal hierarchy. Advanced proficiency with office software and corporate tools; commitment to safety and adherence to health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies. Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and occasional travel as required. Preferred Qualifications

Experience in managing document reviews and discipline-specific deliverables in a multi-project environment. About WSP
