$150,237.50/yr - $252,500.00/yr Who We Are
Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, a platform that enables organizations that depend on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to develop actionable insights and improve operations. We help improve safety, efficiency and sustainability of the physical operations that power our global economy across industries including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing. Working at Samsara means you’ll help define the future of physical operations and be on a team shaping product solutions such as Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, Equipment Monitoring, and Site Visibility. As a recently public company, you’ll have autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term. About the role
The Risk Intelligence team builds fullstack systems and customer-facing products that power Samsara’s AI-driven safety and risk solutions. Our mission is to transform large streams of video, telemetry, and contextual data into actionable insights that help fleets reduce accidents, exonerate drivers, and manage operational risk. At scale, we detect risky driving behaviors and uncover complex patterns across vehicles, infrastructure, and environments to provide a holistic view of safety. As a Senior Software Engineer II on the team, you will design and deliver AI-powered products across web, mobile, and API surfaces that surface new detections and insights at scale. You’ll collaborate with Product, Design, and ML teams to integrate cutting-edge models into customer workflows, own complex problems spanning data pipelines to front-end experiences, and deliver scalable, reliable systems that improve real-world outcomes for fleets globally. This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US. You should apply if
You want to impact the industries that run our world: software, firmware, and hardware you build will help keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, and ensure workers return home safely. You want to build for scale: with over 2.3 million IoT devices deployed, you will work on technologies driving scalable innovation for customers across industries. You are a life-long learner: we pursue ambitious goals and encourage growth across a wide range of technologies and challenges. You believe customers are more than a number: engineers engage with customers, collaborate with customer success and product managers, and use metrics to improve outcomes. You are a team player: we value collaboration and a shared mission to win together. In this role, you will
Build and release new features rapidly, validate with customers, and evolve them toward robust, scalable solutions. Solve complex problems and own the success of your solutions as you architect, build, test, and deliver fullstack products. Build skills across technologies such as Go, GraphQL, TypeScript, React, and MySQL (prior experience with these is not required). Own the operational health of production systems as we scale to a growing customer base. Make an impact on our core architecture, roadmap, and the wider engineering community. Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team). Minimum requirements for the role
8+ years of experience in software development. Proven experience shipping features to customers and iterating based on feedback. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset; able to explain design choices and welcome feedback. A growth mindset and enthusiasm around building new skills and expertise. Comfortable building end-to-end solutions; preference for frontend or backend is fine, but you should be excited to work across the stack. Maintain production systems your team owns and provide operational support when necessary. Demonstrated strong interest in AI technologies and experience as an early adopter of AI tools. An ideal candidate also has
5+ years of fullstack experience in a fast-paced environment, ideally contributing to an early-stage product and scaling it for growth and impact. Mastery of data modeling and fullstack application architecture at scale. Experience deploying LLM-powered systems into production for customer-facing features. Experience collaborating effectively on geographically distributed teams. Background maintaining software products at scale. Familiarity with Go, GraphQL, TypeScript, React, and AWS (a plus, not required). Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy
Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver Total Direct Compensation (base salary + bonus/variable + RSUs) at or above market. A new hire RSU award may be granted at hire, with potential RSU refresh grants annually. Base pay range: $150,237.50—$252,500 USD. We pay for performance, and top performers may receive above-market equity refresh awards. Base pay offered may vary by city, knowledge, skills, and experience. Benefits & Equal Opportunity
Full-time employees receive a competitive total compensation package, health benefits, and flexible working options. Samsara is an inclusive workplace and an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to protected characteristics. Accommodations: We provide reasonable accommodations during the recruiting process.
