Overview
System Engineer Sr. ITSM/ITOM Environment — Reston Consulting Group, Inc.
Location: Washington, DC – Remote
Clearance Requirement: U.S. Citizen (Public Trust Eligible)
Pay Range: $70/hr – $75/hr
The Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to provide expertise in operating and managing IT Service Management (ITSM) and IT Operations Management (ITOM) environments. This role is 100% remote unless specifically called to attend a meeting at the customer’s site.
What You’ll Do
Manage enterprise file services infrastructure hosted on-premises, in AWS, and in Azure.
Maintain technologies including Azure Files, Blob Storage, AWS S3, and Fed Hive.
Administer multiple file-sharing protocols, including SMB (Windows/Linux) and NFS (Linux only).
Ensure redundancy across file shares and redundant zones for availability and resilience.
Monitor all endpoints upon deployment and remediate vulnerabilities according to best practices.
Implement and maintain backup solutions using cloud-native tools (AWS/Azure) or approved third-party tools, in compliance with SLAs.
Rectify errors and configuration issues on failed clients across Azure, AWS, and on‑premises systems.
Maintain file shares with strict permission controls for private, inter-agency, and restricted access environments.
Support performance optimization for storage hosted primarily on solid-state drives (SSD).
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical field.
Minimum 6 years of experience in systems engineering or IT infrastructure management.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or under general direction.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
U.S. Citizen. Eligible for a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
Prior experience supporting federal government environments.
Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) or ITSM/ITOM tools.
