Sign-on bonus: We are extending a $5,000 sign-on bonus to full-time external Mammography Radiographers hired at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The bonus is payable in one installment after start date with a 12-month repayment term. Responsibilities
Evaluates requests for procedures and assesses the patient to determine the appropriate procedure protocol and method of application. Uses imaging systems, accessory devices, and patient positioning techniques to generate mammography images. Cares for the patient throughout the procedure in alignment with department and hospital standards and patient-first guidelines. Evaluates resultant images against industry standards and takes corrective action as needed. Performs preliminary interpretation by applying independent judgment and tailoring the procedure; assists the radiologist if needed. Notifies physicians of changes in patient condition or imaging characteristics as required. Assists the radiologist in interventional procedures; prepares sterile trays and other equipment as needed. Completes and maintains the medical record and related paperwork. Provides patient education before, during, and after the procedure to reduce anxiety and enhance comfort. Adheres to safe radiation practices per Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety and NRC guidelines to limit exposure to patient and staff. Performs Quality Control testing as assigned; notifies supervisor if results are outside control limits; closes rooms/processors as required in the absence of supervision. Documents mammography imaging procedures and ensures correct charging and film/file tracking. Monitors supply levels and maintains a clean and orderly imaging environment. Reports equipment failures or irregularities to supervisory or quality control personnel in a timely manner. Qualifications
Required: Graduation from a hospital-based two-year Radiologic Technology program or an associate degree in Radiology Technology. IEMA licensed. ARRT registered in Radiography (R). CPR - Basic Life Support (American Heart Association). Clinical and technical competency in Mammography to meet MQSA requirements. ARRT registered in Radiography Mammography within 12 months of start date. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree. Three or more years of experience. Benefits
