Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled attorney with
5–7 years of direct experience
in energy, environmental, and natural resources law to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring strong regulatory knowledge, hands-on experience with permitting and project development, and the ability to counsel clients across a diverse range of issues. This position provides the opportunity to work with a broad spectrum of clients—from conventional and renewable energy developers to emerging blockchain and energy innovators—helping them navigate complex regulatory, environmental, and land use challenges to advance critical infrastructure and energy projects.
Location Texas & New Mexico
Responsibilities
Represent clients before state and federal regulatory bodies, including utility commissions, environmental agencies, and administrative hearings.
Provide strategic counsel on regulatory strategy, permitting, compliance, project development, and land use matters.
Lead and support filings such as licensing, registration, cost recovery, siting, and other regulatory approvals related to major infrastructure projects (transmission, water, electric generation).
Draft, negotiate, and review contracts, agreements, and project development documents.
Advise clients on real estate transactions involving water rights, environmental permitting, and natural resources.
Collaborate with firm partners and clients on both conventional energy and renewable energy initiatives, providing forward-looking legal strategies to minimize legal and business risks and keep projects on track.
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
Licensed and in good standing with the bar in Texas or New Mexico.
5–7 years of direct experience
in energy, environmental, and natural resources law, with demonstrated regulatory practice.
Experience appearing before or working with key regulatory bodies such as:
Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT)
Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT)
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)
Texas Railroad Commission (RRC)
New Mexico Oil Conservation Division (OCD)
New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (PRC)
New Mexico Environment Department (NMED)
U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM)
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Strong background in regulatory filings, permitting, and project development for utility-scale wind, solar, transmission, or other major infrastructure.
Ability to work independently, manage client relationships, and handle multiple complex matters simultaneously.
Excellent legal writing, advocacy, and communication skills.
Experience in handling commercial litigation matters (preferred but not required).
