Overview
Telecommunications Engineer - Level IV role at Nalu Federal. Responsibilities
Oversees and participates in the design, testing, upgrade and integration of new or existing telecommunication networks, systems and equipment in accordance with the organization’s business requirements. Documents all aspects of the engineering process as it relates to build and configuration, testing, and deployment of telecommunication networks, systems and equipment. Coordinates changes such as implementation of new telecommunication networks, systems and equipment, upgrades, or version increments to existing networks, systems and equipment with stakeholders. Plans, coordinates, and implements security measures to safeguard telecommunication networks, systems and equipment. Performs telecommunications modeling, analysis, and planning. Coordinates with architecture and evaluates new and emerging telecommunication technologies, making recommendations for product selection. Troubleshoots complex issues and coordinates vendor engagements as needed to assist in troubleshooting efforts. Provides day-to-day operational or administrative duties for deployed infrastructure platforms in lab or production environments. Works with senior technical and user staff to complete projects; plans and leads major technology assignments; functions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments. Level IV performs more independent thinking and complex tasks with minimal supervision and may supervise others. Qualifications

Contractor must have expert knowledge of Structured Cabling, BICSI TIA/EIA 568 and TIA 1179 standards. Ability to read engineering diagrams for buildings and cable plant. Extensive knowledge of telecommunication voice solutions providers such as Avaya, CISCO, Verizon, Lumen, Polycom, etc. Knowledge of systems design tools, methods, and techniques; and relevant design standards and policies. Knowledge of structured analysis principles, business processes, IT security principles, and IT policy and planning formulations. Knowledge of enterprise IT goals, IT metrics, and project management principles. Maintain inventory of all installed infrastructure cable based on BICSI TIA/EIA 1179. Support for telecommunications infrastructure including phone, fax, WAN circuits, 800-number and DID assignments and POTS lines; analyze network characteristics and troubleshoot to recommend procurement or modifications on Cisco-based networks. Backup to Telecommunications/Network Administrator; provide strategic direction and support for facility IP FAX service. Support core Data and Voice devices (LAN/WAN), Routers, Switches and Firewalls; knowledge of routing protocols and services (e.g., Frame-Relay, MPLS, DS3/T1, DNS, IPSec, BGP, NAT); support for VoIP systems and Trunking. Excellent oral and written communication; provide complex technical services to a diverse customer base in a large multi-mission environment. Support project/construction and cable reroutes, fiber splicing; direct support for PMO and CTO. Installation, modification, repair, and removal of copper and optical fiber cables. Provide after-hours on-call and downtime support on a rotational basis. Physical requirements: able to work on feet for extended periods, install network equipment, lift up to 40 pounds; may require ladders up to 10 feet.
