General Summary of Position
MedStar Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for intraoperative patient care in the scrub role, assisting the Core Leader and OR team with orientation, training, and supply inventory for a specific surgical specialty. All functions are performed in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and hospital policies.
Primary Duties
Provide direct patient care in the scrub role and assist the RN with circulating duties as delegated.
Collaborate with the Core Leader and OR team to orient new staff regarding instrumentation, equipment, supplies, operative procedures, and surgeon preferences for your assigned surgical specialty.
Maintain, evaluate, and revise instrument sets, surgical supplies, and equipment; initiate repair or purchase orders as needed.
Ensure a safe environment for patients during intraoperative procedures.
Assist with OR suite turnover.
Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental and team goals.
Participate in staff evaluations, meetings, in-services, and quality assurance audits.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
1-2 years of OR experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting, including major specialties such as General, GYN, Urology, Neuro, Orthopedics, ENT, CV, or Plastic Surgery.
CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification preferred.
This position offers a hiring range of $29.15 - $51.68.
