The salary range for this role is $113,750-$136,250 and placement within that range will be based on years of leadership experience in a similar role.

Role Overview:
Valor’s Managing Director of Schools plays an integral role supporting our network’s four principals and three schools to meet ambitious performance goals across middle and high school grades. The Managing Director of Schools supports the vision, strategic academic and cultural plans, and results across all three Valor campuses, executing the broader strategy set by anchor leaders. The MD of Schools’ priorities and scope of work are informed by the strategies set by Valor's functional leaders (our C-suite).
Key Responsibilities
Principal and Leadership Development and Management (50%) Coach and manage principal development to implement key vision areas and meet ambitious academic, cultural, operational, and equity-driven performance outcomes set by the Chief Academic Officer, Chief Culture Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Engagement and Insights Officer. This includes:
Facilitating weekly coaching meetings responsive to principal, campus, and organizational needs
Observing AP coaching of each Principal
Observing Camo team meetings
Facilitating a PL intensive quarterly
Coordinating and joining informal academic observation rounds
Manage the Exceptional Education Team (10%) Coach and manage the exceptional education leads at both middle and high schools:
CAO will assist in overall vision and program via MD of Schools and CAO bi-weekly meeting
Oversee the program vision and execution of the EE structures by being direct manager for both EE Directors via weekly coaching
Collaborative Leadership (5%)
Collaborate with functional leaders around culture, academic, operational, and equity-centered vision and implementation
Coordinate and problem solve across content areas and school leaders
Support school leaders in responding to school-level data in alignment with the organization’s strategic goals
Connect with MD of Talent, CAO, and Chief Engagement and Insight Officer to coordinate planning
Organize, facilitate, and participate in weekly network and instructional leader meetings
Fulfill network-based duties
Role-Based Projects & Responsibilities (35%)
Develop and manage the implementation of professional learning programming for school-based staff, including leading professional development
Coordinating and organizing annual summer onboarding and training (Base Camp)
Creating and leading monthly professional development for Instructional Coaches
Leading bi-weekly professional development for the high school’s Instructional Leaders
Manage implementation of the Baseline Walkthrough, including creating and leading professional development for all leaders and teachers, the calendar, Strong Start meetings, and updating leadership teams on baseline walkthrough data Oversee teacher and leader evaluation aligned with performance metrics and report evaluation data for licensed educators and administrators through TEAM evaluation via TNCompass. Coordinate distribution of internal evaluation data sheets to communicate with faculty their end-of-year Level of Effectiveness and provide opportunity to reflect on other important internal data points. Oversee compliance with the school district and state. Distribute tasks among appropriate leaders as needed, build Valor’s yearly calendar in accordance with state guidance around instructional days, coordinate twice annual MNPS visits, writing and submitting Valor’s annual School Improvement Plan, submit ongoing artifacts to the District’s Digital Binder, etc. Manage and coordinate compliance for Valor’s RTI program. Build data team agendas, monitor completion of fidelity checks, and meet with Academic Assistant Principals monthly to coordinate support. Build larger MTSS system for students and work with domain-specific leaders to implement a cohesive and aligned approach.

Bachelor’s degree, with an advanced degree strongly preferred
4+ years of Middle/High School Principal (Grades 5-12) experience AND 2+ years of Middle/High School teaching experience
3+ years of direct experience in managing Middle School or High School culture or leading a culture team and professional development
A strong track record of success in school-based roles
Strong technical skills with fluency in Gmail and Google Suites
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize and work efficiently under pressure
Demonstrated track record of meeting high expectations and goals despite obstacles
Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Team-oriented with a strong “whatever it takes” mindset
Ability to model the school’s values with staff, scholars, parents, and community
Optimism, resilience, curiosity, humor, and passion for growth and student success
Ability to model mission, values, and goals to all stakeholders
Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion
