Senior Staff Engineering Manager, FinOps, Capacity Management & Infrastructure (REMOTE) at GEICO. Build and manage a new team of engineers focusing on FinOps, capacity management, and infrastructure solutions across On-prem, Azure, and AWS in a multi-cloud environment. Position Summary
GEICO is seeking an experienced engineering leader to lead engineers in delivering tools, frameworks, and automation for planning domains. The role enables application teams to deliver enterprise-wide, highly performant, efficient, and reliable products. Position Responsibilities
Collaborate with application teams to understand pain points around performance, efficiency, reliability, and formulate sustainable strategies. Influence and build a shared vision with application owners to ship quality products rapidly. Own end-to-end delivery of team strategy and execution. Develop and motivate teams to solve complex problems; advocate for open-source technologies and solutions. Be technically hands-on in coding and in building highly available systems. Build and mentor a new team of software engineers. Drive the team toward long-term goals while addressing high-priority tech debts efficiently. Be a strong thought leader in Site Reliability Engineering, Operational Excellence, and DevOps principles. Drive workload and cost optimization opportunities. Share best practices and improve processes within and across teams. Qualifications
Hands-on software engineering manager with strong understanding of Capacity and Infrastructure Engineering, FinOps Engineering. Fluency with at least one modern language (Python, Java, Go); experience with open-source software is a plus. Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible). Strong technical acumen in Cloud Architecture, Performance Benchmarking, Capacity Planning, and Reliability tools. Expert in container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) and OS optimization. Experience with observability platforms and performance analysis techniques. Experience managing and growing technical leaders and teams. In-depth knowledge of data structures and algorithms. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including SDLC best practices. 5+ years of development in a large-scale, mission-critical environment. 5+ years of hands-on supervision experience in a technical environment. 2+ years of experience with automated testing (Unit, Integration, End-to-End). Salary
Base pay range: $150,000.00/yr - $300,000.00/yr Equal Opportunity
