Position Description
The Multi-Line Senior/Executive Underwriter will work on business that is both primary and excess of an attachment point. The role involves evaluating opportunities within the company’s guidelines, enhancing relationships, and building a profitable book of business. Responsibilities
Gather information needed to evaluate risks for acceptability within company guidelines. Review and assess all loss information relative to new and renewal business opportunities. Make informed and appropriate underwriting decisions based on information provided by clients and other sources. Build and maintain relationships with outside production sources. Stay current on competition, underwriting environment, and market conditions and share that knowledge within the division. Evaluate new Delegated Authority, Managing General Agents (MGA) and Managing General Underwriters (MGU). Conduct research and assessment on the profitability, quality, fit and character of new delegated authority partners. Evaluate technical feasibility of implementing new programs. Lead a cross-functional team to implement new programs. Technical expert across financial modeling, business case creation and general project management within an MGA or Commercial Insurance Carrier. In-depth financial and underwriting understanding of programs business, with the ability to assess and develop financial projections and forecasts on existing and prospective programs. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, including underwriting, claims, and actuarial teams, as well as external stakeholders such as MGAs and Program Administrators (PAs). Education/Experience
Minimum five years of underwriting experience. Experience in property underwriting and admitted insurance is a plus. Strong analytical skills. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the company. Ability to work in a team environment. Experience with policy wording and endorsement issuances. Understanding of insurance accounting and claims. Compensation and Location
In New York City, NY the pay range for this role is $120,000-$160,000. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This range is specific to New York City, NY and may not be applicable to other locations. Additional Information
