Overview

Lead, Epic Analyst (Cadence/Referrals) role at Boston Children's Hospital. In collaboration with the manager, assigns and prioritizes work within the Epic Cadence and Referral team to meet the needs of end-users and supported Epic applications. Serves as a senior resource with specialized knowledge, guiding analysts through design, build/configuration, testing, and implementation of the team\'s core Epic applications and their integrations. Mentors staff, assists with training, and acts as a specialist on the team\'s core Epic applications. Key Responsibilities

Work with manager to prioritize daily workload (tickets and projects), assign staff, and adjust as needed Serve as a subject matter expert on core applications Guide analysts through design, configuration, testing, implementation, and maintenance Act as an escalation point for complex issues Apply Epic expertise and consultative skills to identify business solutions Analyze technology and operations, recommending new features, vendors, or integrations Research vendor functionality, assess integration needs, and recommend customizations Lead multi-month projects from inception to implementation Perform advanced configurations and customizations Implement edits (e.g., security classes), moderately complex logic, or new templates Ensure downstream impacts (billing, admitting, provider access) are addressed Conduct unit, integrated, and specialty testing Manage Epic-eligible vendor integrations and upgrades Coordinate testing for multi-application projects Partner with IT and vendors on non-Epic integrations Coordinate upgrade efforts, assign release note reviews, communicate milestones, and escalate issues as needed Lead team meetings, maintain cross-team communication, and provide updates to leadership Represent the team in internal and external meetings Review schedules, raise performance concerns, and ensure coverage Support onboarding, training, and mentoring Audit work for quality and provide performance feedback Develop or contribute to online and in-person training materials Assist with process improvements, escalate resource needs, and support implementation May present at national Epic forums and attend trainings or conferences for certification Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree required (Associate\'s +2 years, or HS diploma/GED +4 years may substitute) 8 years Epic application support experience, including complex builds/integrations At least 4 years Epic build experience with responsibility for complex builds/integrations Core Competencies

Specialized knowledge of multiple core applications (minimum two Epic certifications) Operational expertise in scheduling, patient registration, and billing Skilled in training, guiding, and motivating staff Able to prioritize competing demands effectively Leads by example, influences, and inspires others Highly organized with strong attention to detail Experienced in managing multiple projects, facilitating meetings, and engaging stakeholders Knowledge of process improvement methodologies to drive efficiency Strong analytical and critical thinking skills Skilled in data-driven decision-making and navigating complex systems Effective in conflict resolution, collaboration, and building consensus Customer service–oriented, tactful, and diplomatic Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills Skilled at presenting to diverse audiences and simplifying complex ideas for non-technical stakeholders Certifications
