As a Surgical Technologist you are an integral part of the medical practitioner team, providing surgical care to patients to facilitate safe and effective completion of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. You may assist with instrumentation in vaginal deliveries, perform stocking duties, scheduling procedures, and assist with ensuring the department is compliant with environment of care requirements. The Surgical Technologist will be accountable for utilizing and keeping current on the application of sterile and aseptic technique, surgical procedures, implementation tools and technologies, human anatomy as well as collaborating and communicating effectively with the inter-disciplinary team to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive and therapeutic procedures. Where You'll Work: Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, Seattle area, Washington state. Salary information: Pay Range $34.90 - $48.23 per hour.

Responsibilities

Operate in the operating room with sterile technique and assist with instruments and supplies during procedures.

Assist with vaginal deliveries instrumentation, stocking duties, and scheduling procedures.

Maintain compliance with environment of care requirements.

Collaborate with the inter-disciplinary team to support physician performance of invasive and therapeutic procedures.

Move equipment as needed and support safe patient handling.

Qualifications

Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or successful completion of a formal on-the-job training that provides the skills necessary to receive Tech in Surgery Certification through the National Center for Competency Testing.

Minimum of six months operating room work experience preferred.

Current registration with the State of Washington as a Surgical Technician; current healthcare provider BLS Certification.

Ability to take night and/or weekend call required.

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, medical terminology; instrumentation and equipment; ability to establish and maintain a sterile field and draping.

Excellent communication skills; ability to work as a team and anticipate needs of a surgeon and patient; ability to operate in emergency and stressful situations.

Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds and perform required motions; ability to maintain a retracted position for up to one hour; good visual and auditory acuity.
