Job Summary and Responsibilities: As a Surgical Technologist you are an integral part of the medical practitioner team, providing surgical care to patients to facilitate safe and effective completion of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. You may assist with instrumentation in vaginal deliveries, perform stocking duties, scheduling procedures, and assist with ensuring the department is compliant with environment of care requirements. The Surgical Technologist will be accountable for utilizing and keeping current on the application of sterile and aseptic technique, surgical procedures, implementation tools and technologies, human anatomy as well as collaborating and communicating effectively with the inter-disciplinary team to facilitate a physician\'s performance of invasive and therapeutic procedures.
Responsibilities Responsibilities include contributing to sterile technique and assisting during surgical procedures, coordinating instrumentation and supplies, and supporting department compliance with environment of care requirements. Collaborate with the inter-disciplinary team to facilitate physician performance of invasive and therapeutic procedures.
Qualifications
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or successful completion of a formal on-the-job training that provides the skills necessary to receive Tech in Surgery Certification through the National Center for Competency Testing.
A minimum of six months operating room work experience preferred.
Current registration with the State of Washington as a Surgical Technician. Current healthcare provider BLS Certification.
Ability to take night and/or weekend call required. Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology, pharmacology and medical terminology. Understanding of instrumentation and equipment, and skill in establishing and maintaining a sterile field and in draping a patient.
Excellent communication skills; ability to act as a team member and anticipate the needs of a surgeon and patient. Ability to operate effectively in emergency and stressful situations.
Ability to independently lift up to 20 pounds; grasping and manual dexterity to hand and/or finger items frequently.
Must be able to maintain a retracted position for up to one hour; visual and auditory acuity with or without accommodation.
Extensive walking, sitting, standing, lifting, stretching, and bending; ability to use and teach good body mechanics.
Ability to move equipment using a wheeled cart.
Pay Range $38.15 - $52.48 /hour
