What You’ll Do
The Senior User Experience Researcher I leads the conceptualization and design of user experience research studies across Tandem’s existing product portfolio and future product roadmap. Day-to-day, this role works closely with cross-functional partners in UX Design, Product Management, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Regulatory, and Commercial Product Marketing in both the research planning phases as well as in sharing insights from executed studies. The Senior User Experience Researcher I uses a variety of research methodologies and storytelling to communicate research findings in an engaging and actionable way to cross-functional partners. Responsibilities
Conducts the user experience research component of product development, with a focus on early generative UX research. Defines, plans, and conducts qualitative and quantitative research studies, documenting responses and results. Coordinates multi-site studies with outside vendors. Tells compelling user stories with data. Analyzes user research data and synthesizes the data into actionable insights and design recommendations. Determines user needs by conducting task-focused analyses. Works closely with product and design teams to identify research goals and develop research plans accordingly. Acts as a departmental liaison for UX Research in cross-functional meetings. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand business questions and project requirements, ensuring alignment with business and product goals. Communicates quantitative and qualitative data and user insights to stakeholders including senior leadership. Supports lifecycle management of products from ideation through development and commercialization across Tandem portfolios; drives innovation in product development. Leads the creation and maintenance of user personas, journey maps, and other user-centered design artifacts. Stays abreast of current technologies and incorporates them into the strategic direction of Tandem products. Ensures compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements. What You’ll Need
5+ years of experience conducting user research. Strong experience with mobile user research. Experience with common UX research tools (e.g., Miro, Mural, FigJam, remote moderated or unmoderated tools). Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Strong methodological practice with the ability to design studies using appropriate methods and rationale. Excellent study moderation skills (one-on-one interviews and focus groups). Excellent note-taking and documentation throughout all study phases. Excellent time and project management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and adaptability to a fast-paced environment. Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods. Ability to diagnose problems and implement appropriate solutions. Ability to communicate and persuade at all levels with data-driven information. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for reporting and presentation. Acts as a UX research champion and the voice of the patient across the organization. Extra Awesome
1 year medical device industry experience preferred. Understanding or experience with diabetes disease management preferred. Master’s degree in Psychology, Experimental Psychology, or Human-Computer Interaction strongly preferred. Compensation & Benefits
The starting base pay range for this position is $126,200 - 157,850 annually. Base pay varies based on knowledge, skills, experience, location, and market. Tandem offers a competitive compensation package with bonus and a robust benefits package. Tandem offers health care benefits (medical, dental, vision) from day one, health savings accounts, flexible saving accounts, 11 paid holidays per year, a minimum of 20 days of paid time off (accrual starts day 1), and a 401k plan with company match plus an Employee Stock Purchase plan.
