We are conducting a confidential search for an experienced

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

to join the senior leadership team of a

rural acute care hospital . This position plays a pivotal role in guiding the organization’s financial strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the delivery of high-quality healthcare to the community. The CFO will partner closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop financial plans, oversee operational and capital budgets, and lead revenue cycle optimization. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong hands-on leadership skills, a collaborative approach, and a deep understanding of the unique financial landscape of rural healthcare. Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Planning

Develop and implement financial strategies that support the hospital’s mission and long-term objectives. Advise executive leadership and the Board on financial planning, investments, and risk management. Oversee cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance monitoring.

Consulting & Advisory

Provide expert financial guidance to senior management and department leaders. Develop and implement effective financial policies, procedures, and controls. Conduct financial health assessments and recommend improvement strategies.

Financial Operations & Reporting

Prepare accurate financial statements, variance analysis, and performance reports. Lead cost management efforts and identify opportunities for efficiency gains. Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations and standards.

Capital & Resource Management

Advise on capital structure, financing options, and strategic investments. Maintain strong relationships with banks, investors, and financial institutions.

Healthcare Systems & Revenue Cycle

Develop strategies to optimize revenue cycle management, including billing, coding, and reimbursement processes. Provide leadership in implementing and integrating Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems with other business processes. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and payer requirements.

Leadership & Collaboration

Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team. Mentor and develop the finance team to maintain high performance and morale. Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to align financial strategies with organizational goals.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field required. CPA or FHFMA certification preferred. Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a CFO, financial consultant, or equivalent senior financial leadership role. Strong knowledge of rural healthcare finance, corporate financial law, and risk management practices. Experience with Critical Access Hospitals preferred. Proficiency in MS Office and financial management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks). Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting, and financial analysis. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Why This Opportunity
