Sous Chef Shifts, Time, and Days: Full Time Base pay range: $27.00/hr - $29.00/hr Location: San Francisco, CA Join us at our Hiring Event / Job Fair on Thursday, September 18th from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Responsibilities Prepare and serve food in accordance with the approved menu, policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
In the absence of the Culinary Services Director, supervise the Culinary Department and direct operations to ensure quality food service at all times.
Ensure the dining experience for residents, families, and visitors is of high quality, including menu selection, meal preparation, presentation, taste, and service.
Assist with planning, preparation, and delivery of all meals; support special meals, activities, events, and marketing needs.
Maintain sanitary standards and report incidents or infractions.
Develop and implement culinary procedures to ensure timely food service and proper temperatures.
Assist in menu planning and quality control of food served; manage portions to reduce waste.
Provide staffing oversight in the absence of the Culinary Services Director.
Assist with purchasing, inventory, ordering, and storage of food and supplies; maintain adequate stock levels.
Ensure a sanitary work environment and compliance with local codes regarding storage, handling, and serving of food.
Train personnel to ensure correct quality, quantity, and price of food orders.
Visit residents to tailor the Culinary Services Program to individual preferences.
Qualifications Must be eighteen (18) years of age
High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework or education in food service/management preferred
Prefer six (6) months of experience as a cook in a restaurant or similar environment
Ability to safely operate standard cooking equipment and utensils
Proficiency with a personal computer and MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
Ability to operate standard office equipment
Knowledge of assisted living and dementia care or willingness to learn
Ability to work with seniors and interact with cognitively impaired individuals
Flexibility, adaptability in change, and ability to prioritize tasks
Ability to follow written or oral instructions and use common sense
Must pass Criminal Background check and Health Screening tests (including TB)
May be required to vaccinate and participate in screening and PPE per regulatory guidelines
