Overview
The Brazos Valley Public Broadcasting Foundation (BVPBF), licensee of KWBU-FM in Waco, Texas, seeks an experienced and mission-driven Interim President to provide strategic and operational leadership during a period of transition. The Interim President will serve as the chief executive, overseeing station operations, finances, compliance, staff leadership, and fundraising. The ideal candidate brings a steady hand, a collaborative spirit, and the capacity to guide the organization as it responds to a rapidly changing public broadcasting landscape. Reports To:

Strategic Planning & Transition Support
Work with the Board of Directors, Baylor University, NPR, and community leaders to explore and model possible future scenarios for the station. Help draft plans for various operational paths, including potential restructuring, partnerships, or long-term sustainability strategies. Provide clear, transparent, and objective analysis to inform Board decision-making. Serve as a public ambassador for KWBU in the local community and with key stakeholders. Setting/approving annual fundraising goals Participating in on-air fund drives and donor events Building and maintaining relationships with major donors and supporters Help identify and implement innovative fundraising strategies. Report regularly to the Board on fundraising efforts.
Organizational Leadership
Provide hands-on leadership for the day-to-day operations of KWBU-FM. Supervise and support the station’s leadership team, currently including: Business Manager, Station Manager, Account Executive, Community Engagement Coordinator Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture aligned with the station’s mission. Lead the development of the FY ’27 operating budget. Partner with the Business Manager to monitor and manage financial performance. Approve expenditures and contracts; ensure responsible stewardship of existing funds. Report regularly to the Board on financial status and risks.
Regulatory & Institutional Compliance
Act as the primary liaison to the FCC, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), NPR and other affiliated networks or partners. Ensure compliance with all regulatory, licensing, and institutional requirements.
Other Duties as Assigned
Strategic thinker with sound judgment, organizational agility, and discretion Proven fundraising and membership development experience Proven financial literacy and experience managing non-profit or media budgets Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to inspire staff, engage stakeholders, and represent the station publicly Knowledge of public media, FCC and CPB requirements, or regulated broadcasting environments strongly preferred
Experience
Leadership experience in non-profit, broadcast/media, or similar environments required Prior executive or senior management experience with staff supervision, budget oversight, and fundraising responsibility required Experience working with boards, institutional partners, and external regulators required Familiarity with public radio or mission-driven media strongly preferred Education
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in communications, non-profit management, business, or related field preferred Compensation & Terms
