Summary Of Responsibilities The Vice President, Capital Markets will lead Merus’ commercial real estate investment platform through equity capital raising, investor relations, strategic co-investments and acquisitions. This role will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with institutional investors, RIAs, family offices, financial advisors, and joint venture partners to secure equity commitments across all Merus markets.
This high-impact role requires an entrepreneurial mindset, a strong network of capital partners, and the ability to drive capital strategy and investor outreach. The Vice President, Capital Markets will serve as the first point of contact for new equity relationships, delivering the Merus story, coordinating introductions to the broader team when appropriate, and supporting long-term investor engagement across fund and project opportunities.
The Vice President will also help evolve and scale Merus’ capital platform to leverage the company’s strengths with the capital allocation initiatives of investors and the underlying market fundamentals in our investment footprint. Additionally, elevating Merus’ investor experience and communication platform in partnership with internal stakeholders to ensure best-in-class service and alignment with strategic growth goals.
Essential Job Functions
Lead, coach, and develop Investor Relations team to meet performance and growth objectives
Lead equity capital raising efforts for Merus' capital platform including commercial real estate development projects and investment funds
Establish and maintain strong relationships with institutional investors, family offices, RIAs, pension funds, and JV partners
Identify and cultivate new equity partners that align with Merus’ investment strategy, including strategic co-investments with best-in-class partners to expand diversification opportunities
Oversee the creation and delivery of offering materials, investor decks, and due diligence content in collaboration with internal teams
Initiate and lead investor outreach efforts, roadshows, and meetings; deliver compelling presentations and communications
Structure and negotiate joint venture and equity partnership agreements
Support investor onboarding, compliance, and communications in coordination with legal and internal partners
Guide the development of Merus’ investor experience strategy and implement improvements to enhance investor engagement
Collaborate with internal teams to support investor reporting, reviews, and updates; ensure consistency and accuracy in investor communications
Maintain and update CRM with investor activity, outreach metrics, and key contacts
Attend and represent Merus at industry conferences, capital markets events, and networking opportunities
Monitor market trends, investor sentiment, and competitive positioning to inform capital raising strategy

Position Requirements
Proven experience raising capital from institutional and high-net-worth investors, with a strong existing network
Comfortable initiating conversations with new capital partners and introducing the company without heavy reliance on corporate or regional leaders
Exceptional communication and presentation skills; able to confidently represent the Merus brand
Proficient in financial analysis, market research, and understanding of real estate investment structures
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple relationships, deadlines, and reporting cycles simultaneously
Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM proficiency
Qualifications And Experience
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Business, Finance, Real Estate, or a related field
Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial real estate, investor relations, capital raising, or capital markets
Prior experience managing or mentoring a team preferred
Track record of success in raising capital across multiple investor types
Strong knowledge of equity structures, fund vehicles, and investor relations best practices
Experience working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented company or platform
Safety and Environment Normal safety hazards associated with office work, and with occasional observational visits to construction sites. Average inside office environment with no personal protective equipment required. Ambient temperature is between 68F and 76F.
Physical Demands Low physical effort required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, lift, and walk. Maximum unassisted lift is 35 lbs. Requires ability to use a keyboard and monitor. Travel may be required by car.
