Overview
Georgetown University Law Center is seeking a Lateral Special Campus Police Officer. The position provides services to protect the life, well-being, and property of students, faculty, staff, visitors, dignitaries, and others through policing, patrol, event security, investigation, and emergency response as outlined in general orders and special orders, under the direction of superior officers.
Position Details
Full-time: 40 hours
Pay: $28.00 per hour
Location: 600 New Jersey Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20001
Responsibilities
Provides police and security services while protecting life and property, performing police patrol duties.
Patrol on foot and/or motor vehicles, respond to emergencies and enforce all applicable laws and University rules and regulations.
Support the university community by establishing and maintaining a safe environment for all members.
Accurately and thoroughly prepare incident reports, safeguarding information and evidence for follow-up and resolution.
Assist in preliminary investigations of incidents and provide assistance to victims of crime; attend court when necessary.
In the absence of the Communications Officer, respond to emergencies, burglar alarms, fire alarms, and requests for service.
Conduct speaking presentations on topics identified through surveys and community feedback under supervision.
Become well acquainted with members of the University community in furtherance of the institution’s objectives.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalency
Three years of general work experience with at least one year in security or a related field
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a campus police officer commission
Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with no violations in the last three years and able to pass Georgetown University’s Driver’s Certification
Ability to complete all required departmental trainings, including certification and arrest control tactics
Knowledge of criminal and civil law and police policies and procedures
Completion of the Campus Public Safety Institute (CPSI) (250 Hours) or an equivalent law enforcement academy within two years of commission, with substitutions allowed for equivalent training
Work Mode This position has been designated as On-Campus.
