Gilbane Building Overview Quality Director is responsible for leading and managing the quality assurance strategy across all field operations for Gilbane Building Company. This role ensures that construction practices meet or exceed industry standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with deep expertise in field quality, construction methodologies, and continuous improvement. The Quality Director develops strategies that integrate quality with safety, productivity, and profitability. They will report to the Operations Leader and collaborate with the Director of Field Operations, Operations Managers, and project teams to execute the company\'s strategic objectives and serve as the functional leader for the execution of field quality standards for the company. The position may be located anywhere there is a major Gilbane Building Company office in the continental United States. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive field quality management system across all projects. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate and enhance field quality. Provide technical reviews, lead root cause analysis, and drive corrective action for field-related quality issues. Conduct regular site visits to assess quality practices and ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and safety standards. Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and trade contractors to enforce quality protocols. Operationalize the quality program to ensure consistent implementation company-wide. Provide centralized corporate oversight and direction for all site-based quality programs. Design and deliver training programs for field personnel on quality standards, inspection techniques, and continuous improvement; incorporate company\'s operational procedures and software tools into the quality program. Establish a network of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across critical technical disciplines including building envelope, roofing systems, fire protection, water mitigation systems, and more. Build and maintain partnerships with suppliers and vendors to provide technical support, optimize design solutions, conduct training, and contribute expert insights. Develop and administer standardized procedures for conducting quality inspections. Identify and coordinate quality activities with safe practices. Establish and enforce quality control standards to ensure projects meet or exceed industry standards and client expectations. Assess quality-related risks and hazards in construction projects and devise mitigation strategies; collaborate with insurance and legal teams on contractual and risk mitigation tools. Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, accountability and excellence; drive employee engagement. Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to field employees to promote professional growth; foster a positive and inclusive work environment. Key Competencies Build High Performing Teams Drive Team Accountability Coach and Develop Others Leverage Business Insights Deploy a Strategic Mindset Display Emotional Intelligence Qualifications Experience/Education Bachelor\'s degree in business administration, construction management, engineering or related field 15+ years in the construction industry or related field, with a focus on field operations and expertise in building envelope systems Or equivalent combination of education and experience Certifications such as ASQ CQE, Lean Six Sigma, or similar are highly desirable Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proven experience in a senior leadership role in the construction industry Strong strategic planning and problem-solving skills Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to build and maintain positive relationships In-depth knowledge of quality standards and industry best practices Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and compliance standards Knowledge in building envelope systems and water infiltration mitigation strategies Salary and benefits Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience, as well as internal equity and alignment with the team. The pay ranges from $137,000.00 - $205,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program. Gilbane offers an excellent total compensation package including health and welfare benefits and a profit-sharing/401k plan. A pre-employment substance abuse test is required.
