Director, Solid Tumor Program
Penn State Children’s Hospital is recruiting a Director of Solid Tumor Program to join our Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. The selected candidate will oversee and expand our clinical program dedicated to the treatment of pediatric solid tumors, with a particular emphasis on integrating precision medicine approaches. This individual will lead a multidisciplinary team focused on delivering cutting-edge, personalized care while fostering innovative clinical trial initiatives.
This is a tenure track position at the Associate to Full Professor academic rank, commensurate with the applicant’s experience and accomplishments.
What we’re seeking
BC/BE in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. MD, MD/PhD, DO, or foreign equivalent. Ability to acquire a license to practice in the State of Pennsylvania. Established track record of clinical, translational, or basic research in pediatric solid tumors strongly desired. Newly endowed Cellular and Immunotherapy Research Program in Pediatric Oncology within the Division. This Program is supported by a substantial endowment from the Four Diamonds Fund of the PSU College of Medicine, part of a >$100 M endowment supporting the Four Diamonds Pediatric Cancer Research Center. The Program is part of an interdepartmental genetics initiative by the institution. The mission of the Pediatric Oncology Cellular and Immunotherapy Research Program is to study immune regulation and develop new cellular and immune mediated therapies to better understand and design novel therapies for pediatric cancers. A wide range of model systems and experimental approaches are of interest and strong collaborations between basic and clinical research and clinical research trials are encouraged. The Division is an active member of COG, POETIC, and the lead organization for the Beat Childhood Cancer Research Consortium. The division has an accredited Pediatric Heme/Onc fellowship program. The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology has 15 full-time Pediatric Hematologists/Oncologists and 12 Ph.D. faculty. Over 100 new oncology patients are seen annually, and there are programs in pediatric stem cell transplantation, experimental therapeutics, neuro-oncology, AYA oncology, and survivorship. The Four Diamonds Pediatric Cancer Research Program consists of NIH-funded basic and translational research in childhood malignancies including leukemia, solid tumors, and brain tumors. Research is supported by the Penn State Cancer Institute, the Penn State Institute for Personalized Medicine, an NIH-funded CTSI, and Pediatric Clinical Trials Office.
