West Virginia University School of Medicine, the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute Department of Neurology and WVU Medicine Children's seek Child Neurologists (ranks available) at Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The successful candidate will practice in Morgantown, WV.
Responsibilities
Practice child neurology in outpatient clinic and inpatient consults.
Provide excellent patient care and actively teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
Qualifications
MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and eligibility for state medical licensure.
Completed a child neurology residency and board certified or eligible in child neurology. All qualifications must be met by time of appointment.
The Division of Child Neurology collaborates with the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, which comprises a team of 280 faculty across Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuroradiology, and Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry. The Institute supports compassionate patient care and advanced medicine through education, research, and outreach, leading innovative solutions for neurological and psychiatric conditions across the lifespan.
WVU Medicine maintains a Level IV Comprehensive Epilepsy Program. The Epilepsy Center includes hardwired video-EEG monitoring units for adults and pediatrics, along with neuroimaging support including spectroscopic MRI, functional MRI, and quantitative PET scans.
Our WVU Medicine Children's Hospital opened in September 2022 and is the premier site in the state for primary through tertiary pediatric care. The WVU Medicine Children's Neuroscience Center, within the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, includes divisions of child neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, psychology, neuropsychology, neurodevelopment, neuroradiology, neuro-oncology, physiatry and rehabilitation. The Center and WVU Health System offer a Cerebral Palsy and Spasticity Clinic, Level IV Epilepsy Center, Neurodevelopmental Center, movement disorders, and telehealth programs. The departments and divisions maintain close collaboration with pediatric surgical subspecialties, pediatric neuropsychology, and neuroradiology to provide comprehensive pediatric care and high-quality teaching for students and house staff.
WVU Medicine Children's features a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, a cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff, and the state's only epilepsy monitoring unit for children. The hospital includes a Pediatric Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, Imaging Department, Heart Center, and Blood Disorder and Cancer Center. WVU Medicine Children's is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1. The hospital also offers a Birthing Center and maternal-fetal medicine clinic. It is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, an ECMO program, a level IV NICU, and the only hospital in the state to hold Magnet status for nursing excellence.
