Overview
West Virginia University School of Medicine, Department of Neurology is seeking a BE/BC Child Neurologist-Epilepsy qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The appointment includes a Medical Directorship of Pediatric Epilepsy, EEG, and EMU, with practice in Morgantown, WV. The successful candidate will practice in pediatric neurology with a special emphasis in pediatric epileptology, including outpatient clinic duties, inpatient consults, and staffing the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. Professional reads of local and outreach EEGs are anticipated, as is participation in the surgical epilepsy program. Responsibilities
Practice child neurology with emphasis in pediatric epileptology. Provide outpatient clinic services, inpatient consults, and staffing for the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. Perform professional reads of local and outreach EEGs. Participate in the surgical epilepsy program. Serve as Medical Director of Pediatric Epilepsy, EEG, and EMU. Supervise EMU activities, design optimal workflows, and lead quality/safety improvement initiatives. Grow the epilepsy surgery program and expand access to patients across the state. Teach fellows, residents, and medical students about epilepsy and EEG care. Qualifications
MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent; eligible for state medical license. Board certified or eligible in Child Neurology and Epilepsy. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment. About WVU Medicine and the Pediatric Program
WVU Medicine maintains a Level IV Comprehensive Epilepsy Program with hardwired video-EEG monitoring units for adults and pediatrics, plus neuroimaging support including functional MRI and quantitative PET scans. WVU Medicine Children's Hospital provides primary through tertiary care for children and collaborates with pediatric surgical subspecialties, pediatric neuropsychology, and neuroradiology. The Division is part of the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, a multidisciplinary effort in education, research, and patient care. The 150-bed Children's Hospital opened in September 2022 and features pediatric operating rooms, a cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff, and the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state for children. WVU Medicine Children's is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1. The hospital also includes a dedicated Cancer Center, NICU, PICU, and Heart Center, and J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital hosts pediatric cardiac surgery and Magnet-status nursing.
