Overview
VentureBeat is seeking an experienced, execution-focused Product Lead to turn leadership strategy into a clear, stable roadmap and shipped outcomes across our core platforms and emerging AI-powered products. You’ll run the roadmap for the website, ESP ecosystem, and new digital products — and stand up the product operations framework that guides how we plan, build, and launch. This role is both strategic and tactical: write crisp specs, align stakeholders, manage priorities, and work directly with our small engineering team (in-house + contractors) to deliver high-impact launches. Translate strategy into a roadmap & specs:
Maintain a single source of truth (roadmap, PRDs, decisions), and ship against it with disciplined change control. Establish product operations 0→1:
Define workflows, documentation standards, release cadences, and prioritization frameworks that bring structure and accountability. Create and manage a unified roadmap
aligned to company growth goals and transparent to all stakeholders. Implement tools and processes
for tracking progress, managing backlog, and measuring impact across teams. Partner closely with engineering, marketing, editorial, design, and revenue
to prioritize features, manage dependencies, and ensure smooth handoffs from idea to launch. Work pragmatically with limited design resources , making smart trade-offs and producing/refining lightweight designs to keep projects moving. Manage an external engineering team
with clear accountability and delivery expectations. Evaluate, sequence, and integrate AI features
that enhance user experience and monetization, aligned to strategy and measured by outcomes. Own product analytics & instrumentation
to track performance, measure impact, and inform decisions. Champion user needs
through feedback loops, market research, and data insights. What We’re Looking For
7+ years in product management, with at least 3 in a leadership role. Experience building
product operations from scratch
in a lean, high-growth environment (release trains, repeatable rituals, clear PRDs). Proven success managing digital platforms (websites, ESPs, SaaS tools) and launching new products;
B2B media/publishing strongly preferred. Strong technical literacy; able to communicate effectively with engineers and assess technical trade-offs. Comfort operating with minimal design resources; able to make pragmatic UX decisions and produce clear wireframes. Experience with AI products or integrations a strong plus. Excellent communication skills; can align diverse stakeholders and make hard prioritization calls. Data-driven decision maker who balances speed and quality with a
