Assistant General Manager

to answer the call; a team player who is dedicated to supporting our local Naval community and operational successes on a day-to-day basis. You will perform a variety of tasks which involve making the NGIS a home away from home for our valued guests. Your work will make an impact and support how our organization serves the best customer – our Military patrons and their families. So, what does a typical day look like? What does it take to succeed?

Assists the GM in operating a professional Department of Defense (DoD) lodging operation consistent with those services and amenities provided in a commercial midgrade hotel for guests in a Temporary Duty (TDY), Permanent Change of Station (PCS), or Leisure status.

Provide excellent customer service to our valued and honored guests.

Provides program oversight and participates in improvement efforts including Mystery Shop Calls, review of customer response results, and room inspections to ensure program standards are maintained.

Performs management internal controls (MIC), reviewing and developing internal controls to prevent loss and improve cost saving measures.

The Qualifiers

3 years of experience in administrative technical or other responsible work enabling general knowledge of operational practices.

May substitute one year of academic study above the high school level in a hotel/lodging/hospitality school for 6 months of general experience.

1 year of responsible experience with in-depth knowledge of hotel/motel or institutional management or related service industry management and operations.

Experience should include procurement of supplies and equipment, operational efficiency, sanitation, internal finance controls, budgeting, staffing, room design, and decorating or similar work.

Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

Qualifications - External A total of 4 years of experience with the following general and specialized experience:

General Experience: 3 years of administrative/technical or other responsible work with knowledge of operational practices, skill in dealing with others, and mature judgment. Up to 4-year substitution: 1 year of academic study above high school level may substitute for up to 9 months of experience, up to a maximum of a 4-year bachelor’s degree for 3 years of general experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of responsible experience with in-depth knowledge of hotel/motel or institutional management or related service industry management and operations, including procurement of supplies and equipment, operational efficiency, sanitation, internal finance controls, budgeting, staffing, and room design/decorating.
