Primary Responsibilities

Market Sector Directors (MSD) drive HDR’s business within the matrix management structure. The largest market sector, Highways & Roads (H&R), generates nearly $1B annually worldwide. It includes clients that own and operate highways, toll roads, local roads, and bridges. HDR’s primary professional services in this sector include bridge and highway design, traffic engineering, transportation planning, and tolling services. This role requires understanding of H&R clients, funding, revenue streams, and governmental structures at various levels. The responsibilities are divided into: Market leadership and business development (~70%) Staff development (20%) Support to Operations (10%) The Director sets strategic vision, supports growth initiatives, develops staff, and maintains communication with leadership to implement growth and operational plans. The role involves expanding HDR’s client relationships, supporting business development, and representing HDR in industry organizations. Minimum Requirements

Minimum 12 years of industry experience with leadership roles Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field Strong communication, client management, and business skills Preferred Qualifications

At least 20 years in highway/bridge planning or engineering Professional engineering license or equivalent Leadership in industry associations like AASHTO or IBTTA Additional Information
