We are looking for you to join our team as a

Mission Assurance Manager 2

based in

Sunnyvale, CA.

You will lead quality engineering, and mission assurance activities in support of Marine Systems’ Machinery Systems Operating Unit. The manager should be knowledgeable in aerospace and/or military quality and mission excellence processes and requirements.

As a key leader, partner and essential member of the Quality and Mission Assurance leadership team in the Machinery Systems Operating Unit, the Manager 2 will lead a high performing team of mission assurance engineers, quality engineers, quality analysts and other mission assurance personnel to support company operations and achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.

Leads collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Performance Management/Supplier Quality and Global Supply Chain to ensure quality is inherent in every requirement, design, work product, and end-product delivered by Northrop Grumman

Ensures policies, procedures, and processes are in place to assure the performance and quality of products with conformance to established standards, specifications and customer requirements

Leads efforts to identify and mitigate quality and performance risks using advanced product quality planning (APQP) methods, FMEAs, early design engagement, and supplier engagement

Leads root cause and corrective action analyses (RCCA) and failure investigations for high impact issues and teaches/coaches/mentors personnel in use of RCCA for lower level issues

Manages program budgets, schedules, program EACs and performance using Earned Value Management for the quality scope on programs

Establishes and manages performance metrics to facilitate continuous improvement activities

Develops and operates within departmental budgets for indirect costs and overhead

Provides performance reviews and periodic feedback for all direct reports

Engages on the shop floor and in work activities to provide direct support as needed while additionally coaching and mentoring facility personnel in quality methods and Provides guidance and mentoring to direct reports based on goals, objectives, and company policy procedures

Ensures compliance with the Quality Management System through execution of internal surveillances and audits

The ideal candidate will possess:

Strong interpersonal and issue resolution skills

Excellent oral and written communication, data analysis, business acumen, and problem solving skills

Ability to document, plan and manage projects

Ability to present to customer and executive/program leadership

Demonstrated problems solving skills in a manufacturing environment

Demonstrated ability to work with minimal oversight and in a multi-discipline team environment, providing insight and solutions to complicated technical issues

Able to work and lead effectively in a team setting

Ability to successfully engage on the shop floor to provide solutions and coach and mentor others in the use of quality principles and practices

Proficient with MS office

Ability to travel

Basic Qualifications for the Mission Assurance Manager 2:

Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field and a minimum of 8 years relevant work experience in a manufacturing, engineering or related environment

Extensive prior work experience in the application of quality principles and practices (e.g., quality engineering, inspection, systems engineering, material review, etc.) related to the engineering and manufacture of machinery and structures

Experience applying advanced product quality planning and mission assurance practices (e.g., risk reduction, system engineering principles, and full life cycle product support)

Experience with Earned Value Management.

Ability to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance

US Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications for the Mission Assurance Manager 2:

Experience with advanced product quality planning (APQP) methods, PFMEAs, CRTMs, and overall Design Quality processes

Experience developing BOEs (Basis of Estimates) for program capture phase

Experience as a CAM in an Earned Value Management environment

Experience with supplier quality and DOD contracts

Prior electrical generation, launch system, or propulsion systems experience

Experience with ISO 9001 or AS9100 based quality management systems

Experience conducting or managing internal audits

Primary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
