Facility in Santa Monica, California Responsibilities
The Travel Cath Lab RN provides specialized care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and interventional treatments. Responsibilities include preparing patients for procedures, assisting during interventions, monitoring post-procedure recovery, and working closely with cardiologists and cath lab teams. Maintain safety and regulatory standards and ensure effective communication with the team and patients’ families. Essential Work Functions
Conduct assessment of patients prior to procedures, including reviewing medical history and performing physical exams Assist in positioning patients for the procedure and ensure EKG electrodes and cardiac leads are properly placed Assist physicians during procedures, including placement of catheters, wires, balloons, stents, and other cardiac interventions Operate and monitor hemodynamic equipment, respond to changes in rhythms and hemodynamic waveforms Assist in arterial/venous sheath removal using closure devices, manual pressure, or mechanical compression, and transport to recovery Monitor vital signs, ECG, and hemodynamic parameters during procedures Support post-procedure care and ensure smooth transition to the next phase of care Maintain and troubleshoot cath lab equipment and ensure proper stocking Communicate effectively with team members, patients, families, and physicians Adhere to safety, infection control, and regulatory standards Perform other duties within the scope of practice Qualifications
Required Qualifications One year’s recent experience as a Cath Lab RN Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification Current ACLS Certification Preferred Qualifications PALS or ENPC Certifications RCIS certification Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position Skills
Required Essential Skills Critical thinking, service excellence, good interpersonal communication Ability to read, write, and communicate in English Ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions; PC skills Physical abilities to remain stationary, move equipment, push/pull, and bend Interpersonal skills to work with diverse personnel Technical/motor skills for procedure assistance and equipment use Mental requirements to handle deadlines, irregular schedules, and concentration under pressure Sensory: visual acuity and effective communication Benefits Include
