The Professional Model of Care requires registered professional nurses to be responsible and accountable for their own practice. Minimum Education A.A. (Required); BSN (Preferred) Minimum Work Experience 1 year RN experience (Required) Required Skills/Knowledge The licensed Registered Nurse will successfully complete the hospital and nursing orientation at Children’s National. Maintain knowledge base with new information or changes in the specialty area. Required Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse in District of Columbia; RN license in DC, Maryland or Virginia dependent upon location of practice (Required); CPR (Required) Functional Accountabilities

Contribute to Magnet re-designation as evidenced by updating professional profile and involvement in councils, committees, task forces, or community outreach. Demonstrate critical thinking by problem solving during patient care. Communicate to develop plan of care and advocate to meet patients’ needs. Independently escalate issues using chain of command. Demonstrate proper use of current hand-off processes. Demonstrate collegial and respectful relationships with ancillary staff. Participate in implementing change and support management decisions. Use patient and family assessment data to complete data base and plan of care within identified timeframes. Demonstrate clinical skills with complex patients; analyze status and implement interventions. Prioritize and organize for complex patients with rapidly changing needs. Documentation adheres to high practice standards. Plan educational needs with patient and family during hospitalization and prior to discharge. Demonstrate organizational skills; complete assignments on time. Provide caring in all encounters; reflect in patient/family feedback and satisfaction scores. Safety
