Cook County Health The Director Supply Chain Operations and Logistics is responsible for leading and overseeing the Supply Chain Operations Department for the Cook County Health (CCH) and all affiliates, including Distribution/Logistics, Inventory management, Receiving, Linen Management and Mail Services. This position directs the supply chain operations; assists CCH and distributors in implementing new supply chain programs; monitors and tracks the success of engagements using specific performance indicators; oversees on-site staff to implement departmental service quality improvement initiatives; and directs operations and logistics for multiple hospitals and clinics.

Responsibilities

Maintain effective inventory control management (stock and non-stock) processes and costs as established by Enterprise Business Processes (EBP) across assigned departments.

Provide supply chain logistics support to all CCH facilities and implement system-wide Just-in-Time (JIT) programs.

Provide financial input to Administration on projection of supply expenses and opportunities for reduction/savings.

Coordinate system-wide physical inventories and strive to achieve system-wide KPI targets.

Communicate changes, issues and trends to executive leadership, nursing leadership and department directors in a timely and clear manner.

Develop and execute project plans for Strategic Logistics/Operations initiatives affecting each facility, including optimizing supply, linen and mail utilization through collaboration with physicians and clinicians.

Resolve service issues that do not meet SLAs and facilitate staff development in supply chain solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university

Five (5) years of experience managing supply chain operations in healthcare or equivalent, including inventory management and cycle counting

Five (5) years of progressively increasing management responsibility

Knowledge of ERP systems such as Lawson, PeopleSoft, McKesson/HBOC, or similar

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university

Certified Materials and Resource Professional

Seven (7) years of experience in healthcare supply chain management with inventory control expertise

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics

Experience managing multi-facility hospital operations

Knowledge of management in a union environment

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products

Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

Analytical and problem-solving abilities; conflict management; decision-making

Project management capabilities; adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work in a generally sedentary office environment with potential for standing/walking; visual acuity and manual dexterity for computer work

Physical and Environmental Demands Healthcare environment; adhere to hospital and department safety requirements, including PPE, hand hygiene, and department-specific safety practices.
