Serve as the first line risk leader aligned to a Data and/or Technology team. Provide day-to-day risk management guidance and oversight as part of the First Line of Defense (LOD1) risk team. Lead the execution and evolution of the enterprise technology risk management framework in alignment with the company’s risk appetite and regulatory obligations. Partner with Technology, Data, Security and Business stakeholders to assess risk across systems, platforms and products. Demonstrate experience and understanding of technical, security and data regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Translate technical risk into business terms for Product Executives and advise Technology and Product Executives on risk mitigation strategies. Provide executive level verbal and written messaging and communications fit for executive leadership and external audits/regulatory oversight agencies. Director, Risk Management — 1LOD

The Director, Risk Management is responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating a centralized LOD1 regulatory and audit management program for Early Warning’s business lines. This role ensures the 1LOD program is implemented consistently and operates effectively across designated business line(s), aligned with the enterprise 3LOD program. Essential Functions

Build and manage the centralized LOD1 regulatory and audit management function for assigned business lines, acting as liaison to Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Risk Management, and Compliance to support the 3LOD program. Understand and monitor applicable regulations, assess business impact, and drive projects and processes to address changes. Partner with Enterprise Risk Management to execute Risk and Control Self Assessments. Partner with Business Continuity Management on BC/DR tests and maintain required recovery plans. Oversee business-line third-party relationships, including performance and risk management. Assist design and maintenance of process maps; own process inventory and internal control environment; design, maintain, and report KPIs and KRIs. Identify and self-report issues through ERM Self-Identified Issue Process; ensure remediation plans are sufficient and on time; track to completion. Support RAF processes where applicable. Deliver periodic executive reporting on risk management activities. Develop 1LOD risk governance across business lines to support decision making and escalation on risks. Deliver education on risk ownership and keep assessments of control environments up to date. May lead or mentor risk professionals. Ensure regulatory and audit activities are conducted per ERM requirements; support the company’s commitment to risk management and data confidentiality. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Technology, Security, or related field. 10+ years of risk-related experience in financial services or within a 3LOD program. Success leading regulatory, audit, or risk functions in a 3LOD environment. Ability to work effectively in a complex, highly regulated environment. Strong problem-solving and change-management skills. Working knowledge of regulatory requirements related to the assigned business line; technology roles may require technology-related knowledge. Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and build trust with partners and regulators. Effective influence management skills. Experience interacting with executive management. Experience in multiple risk disciplines (product, regulatory/compliance, third party, reputation, etc.). Knowledge of COSO Internal Control – Integrated Framework or similar. Risk management, internal control, or internal audit certifications. First line of defense risk management experience in a regulated financial institution. Proficient in writing policies and procedures. Experience as the accountable 1LOD risk leader managing regulatory and audit activities. Physical Requirements

Working conditions are a normal office environment. This role is primarily sedentary and involves extensive computer use; may require standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching. Ability to lift 10 pounds occasionally. Must be able to communicate with internal and external customers. Ability to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation. Compensation

Base pay scale by location (USD/year): Chicago, IL: $160,000 – $180,000; New York, NY: $180,000 – $200,000. Eligible for discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
