Director of Finance
to lead our finance function with strategic insight, technical expertise, and a mission-driven approach. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage day-to-day accounting while also building long-term financial sustainability. The Director of Finance reports to the EVP of Finance & Operations and is responsible for team management, reporting, compliance, and system improvements. Responsibilities
Managing and mentoring the bookkeeper to ensure accurate, efficient operations. Reviewing and analyzing monthly financial reports, providing insights for executive leadership. Preparing and monitoring the annual budget while updating monthly forecasts. Overseeing annual audit processes and ensuring compliance with IRS and other reporting requirements. Partnering with leadership on member renewals, troupe forecasting, and foundation reporting. Monitoring cash flow, investment accounts, and financial stability. Implementing and improving financial systems, controls, and reporting tools. Role Progression
Within 1 month, youll be onboarded into EdTA's systems and begin overseeing core accounting operations. Within 3 months, youll be independently producing accurate monthly reports, leading budget updates, and managing restricted funds. Within 6 months, youll be a trusted financial advisor to leadership, driving system improvements and ensuring compliance across all financial operations. About You
You are passionate about advancing nonprofit missions through sound financial management. You have 7+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership, with at least 3-5 years in management. You hold a Bachelors degree in Accounting (Masters preferred but negotiable) or comparable experience. You are fluent in Sage Intacct and highly proficient in Excel. You are a strong communicator who can translate complex financials for non-financial stakeholders. You bring expertise in nonprofit accounting, including restricted/unrestricted funds, grant compliance, investment management, and donor reporting. You are collaborative, ethical, and skilled at balancing detail orientation with big-picture strategy. Nice to Have, but Not Required
CPA certification or progress toward one. CNAP certification in nonprofit financial management. Familiarity with QuickBooks Nonprofit and Blackbaud Financial Edge in addition to Sage Intacct. Benefits
