Bilingual Head Start Behavior Coach (English/Spanish)
WNC Source is seeking a highly skilled and Bilingual (English/Spanish) Head Start Behavior Coach to provide intensive on-site coaching, mentoring, and behavioral support to our teaching staff and families. Key Responsibilities
Coaching and Mentoring: Provide individualized, on-site coaching and support to teachers and supervisors, focusing on classroom functioning, dynamics, and interactions. Use classroom observations and constructive feedback to facilitate professional growth and progress toward identified classroom and social-emotional goals.
Behavioral Expertise: Consult with and guide teachers on children’s development, the purposes and meaning of children’s behavior, and effective strategies for promoting a positive classroom climate. Collaborate with staff and families to address and resolve challenging behavioral concerns.
Support for Dual Language Learners: Work with teachers to screen, plan, and implement experiences that specifically support the English language development of dual language learners.
Training and Development: Create and implement training sessions on curriculum fidelity, child development, and evidence-based behavioral practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the Disabilities Coordinator on referrals to community agencies and collaborate with parents/guardians to provide resources and strategies that support their child’s behavioral and developmental needs.
Classroom Coverage: Be flexible and willing to serve in ratio within the classroom as part of the teaching staff on an “as needed” basis to provide direct support and modeling.
Qualifications and Requirements Education and Experience
A Baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Services, or a related field is required. Degree must be from an accredited college recognized by the NC Department of Child Development and Early Education.
Bilingual Skills: Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.
Experience: Two to five years of experience working with young children in group settings. Preferred Experience: Prior experience in Head Start, NC Pre-K, and/or Developmental Day settings. Knowledge of and experience with Practice-Based Coaching is highly preferred.
Additional Requirements
Ability to organize, prioritize a demanding workload, and complete accurate, timely documentation and reports independently.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and proof of liability insurance.
Required to obtain and maintain a current First Aid/CPR/AED certificate within 90 days of employment.
Must pass and maintain an NC DCDEE Criminal Background Check (NC Qualification Letter required before start date).
Required to complete a Health Assessment/Medical Record and pass a TB screen or test before employment.
