Overview

The University of Chicago’s Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science seeks full-time Academic Pediatric Ophthalmologists at any faculty rank. Appointees will provide patient care in pediatric ophthalmology, including strabismus and retinopathy of prematurity; interest and experience in adult strabismus is welcome. Patient care will take place at our main ambulatory building in Hyde Park and Comer Children’s Hospital, and other sites as determined by the needs of the department. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications. These positions are benefits eligible. Appointees will contribute to medical and surgical management of pediatric ophthalmology patients, medical education, scholarship, and join a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners at UChicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago and its affiliates. The Department has an outstanding culture of clinical care, scholarship, and collaboration, serving the University of Chicago community, the South Side of Chicago, the Southwest Suburbs, and Northwest Indiana. Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) have completed an ophthalmology residency or its equivalent; and 4) have completed a pediatric ophthalmology fellowship or foreign equivalent. Responsibilities

Provide patient care in pediatric ophthalmology, including strabismus and retinopathy of prematurity; interest and experience in adult strabismus is welcome. Teach and supervise trainees and students; engage in scholarly activity. Participate in medical and surgical management of pediatric ophthalmology patients and contribute to medical education. Collaborate with a community of faculty colleagues and learners across UChicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and affiliates. Qualifications

Medical doctorate or equivalent. Hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois. Completed an ophthalmology residency or its equivalent. Completed a pediatric ophthalmology fellowship or foreign equivalent. Compensation and Benefits
