What to Expect
Tesla's Battery Electronics team is hiring experienced Electrical Design Engineers (Engineer, Sr., Staff, & Sr. Staff levels) to lead the design of high-voltage battery management PCBAs for our newest vehicles, including the Robotaxi and next-generation mass market platforms, Roadster, Semi, Cybertruck, as well as our established SX3Y lineup, Optimus, residential and industrial energy storage solutions.
We are seeking exceptional hands-on Engineers with strong electrical engineering fundamentals, who thrive in a fast-paced environment, relish tackling hard engineering challenges, and are passionate about playing a pivotal role in advancing Tesla's mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.
In this role, they will lead end-to-end PCBA design, encompassing initial concept development, design requirements, schematics and layout, design validation, and scaling for mass production. Collaborating closely with Mechanical Design, Firmware Engineering, Test, and Manufacturing teams, you will optimize your designs for best-in-class performance and reliability while also focusing on minimizing parts count and reducing BOM costs.
What You'll Do
Design, prototype, build, and test high-voltage battery management electronics for Tesla vehicles and energy products
Develop highly automated design validation setups and software to ensure comprehensive test coverage and reduced validation time
Launch your designs to mass production
Work with top automotive IC manufacturers to co-develop and integrate new technologies into next-generation Tesla Battery Management Systems (BMS)
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
At least 3 years of hands-on industry experience in analog and digital circuit design
Strong analytical, circuit analysis and simulation skills
Superb failure analysis and PCBA troubleshooting skills
Solid knowledge of Python for test automation and data analysis
Experience in one or more areas including battery management systems, power electronics, microcontrollers and high-speed digital interfaces
Experience designing RF circuits, antennas, and familiarity with common wireless communication protocols
Experience using Altium Designer and LTSpice
Experience using mechanical CAD tools (Fusion360, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks), fast prototyping and 3D printing

Expected Compensation
$118,320 - $273,480/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
