The Senior Energy Underwriter will be responsible for underwriting and managing a portfolio of complex energy insurance risks, including traditional oil and gas operations and renewable energy projects. Evaluate exposures, set pricing strategies, and develop tailored insurance solutions while maintaining profitability and underwriting integrity. Strengthen broker and client relationships and collaborate with internal teams to assess current and prospective risks. Prospect and manage new and renewal business within an assigned territory; market and solicit opportunities from wholesale broker partners. Analyze submissions (applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, financial reports) to determine risk level for each account. Utilize underwriting tools (exposure, experience, industry ratings) to analyze complex casualty exposure; adhere to guidelines, authorities, and referral requirements. Provide proactive service with the Middle Office to ensure timely and accurate delivery of quotations, binders, policies, and endorsements. Cross-sell with other business units to maximize deployment of AXA XL’s capital. Monitor market trends, including renewables and alternative energy opportunities; contribute to regional planning with an annual desk-level underwriting plan. Travel across the territory (approximately 20%) for client, broker, and internal meetings. Qualifications
Required Skills And Abilities Extensive progressive underwriting experience related to Energy accounts. Strong relationships within national and regional brokerages in the assigned territory. Thorough knowledge of commercial insurance coverages and contracts. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. Desired Skills And Abilities Experience working hands-on with actuarial colleagues. Strong project and time-management, sales, marketing, and negotiation skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. About AXA XL
