Senior Formulator

to join its growing R&D team in the Bay Area, CA. This full-time hybrid role offers relocation assistance for the right candidate.

Base pay range $100,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

Leading bench-scale formulation of Home Care products including laundry detergents, dish cleaners, scent boosters, and surface cleaners.

Selecting and qualifying raw materials based on performance, sustainability, cost, and sourcing criteria (e.g., Leaping Bunny, EPA Safer Choice).

Benchmarking competitive products to identify innovation opportunities and improvements.

Collaborating with R&D process and packaging teams to scale up formulas from lab to full-scale production.

Supporting marketing with consumer-centric claims and demos, and generating claims documentation.

Acting as a technical expert to resolve complex formulation challenges and mentoring junior formulators and cross-functional teams.

Ensuring regulatory compliance across all markets where products are sold.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or a Master's in Chemistry.

Minimum 5 years of experience in home care product formulation across multiple categories.

Proven ability to integrate consumer insights, regulatory guidance, and marketing input into product development.

Experience in scaling up formulations from lab to pilot and commercial production.

Strong technical knowledge of surfactants, enzymes, builders, chelants, solvents, pH control, and fragrance systems.

Willingness to travel 10-15% for site visits and scale-up activities.
