A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) (aka: Senior Nurse Anesthetist) is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who provides anesthesia services in a collaborative care team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based anesthesia. The CRNA provides anesthesia for patients of all acuity levels in a variety of settings. Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree or Doctorate in Nurse Anesthesia by date of hire plus 1 year of CRNA experience Current CRNA license or CRNA Licensure by date of hire Certified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists by date of hire (proof may be requested at any time) Must have accountability and high-level problem-solving abilities Responsibilities
Perform and document the pre-anesthesia assessment and evaluation of the patient Review, request, and order laboratory/diagnostic studies as permitted by state law Obtain informed consent for anesthesia and related services Select, obtain, order, and administer preanesthetic medication or treatment Develop and implement an anesthesia care plan Select, obtain, prepare, and use equipment, monitors, supplies, and drugs for anesthesia and pain management; perform safety checks as needed Administer analgesic and anesthetic agents and related drugs Manage airway, including fiberoptic intubation when needed Facilitate emergence and recovery from anesthesia; monitor patient response and provide necessary support Initiate post-anesthesia pharmacological or fluid support; provide cardiovascular and respiratory support as needed Evaluate patient response post-anesthesia and during recovery Discharge patient from the post-anesthesia care unit Implement acute and chronic pain management modalities Manage emergencies with assessment, stabilization, and disposition decisions Participate in required educational programs and monthly departmental meetings Maintain current CRNA licensure and supervise/anesthesia techs as assigned May perform other duties as assigned Salary
