A Day in the Life Join our Global Supply Management team as a Category Manager-Electronics Technology, where you utilize your strong track record of delivering results in a matrixed organization, and collaborate with diverse individuals, teams, and skill sets to achieve success. You will partner and lead several categories in electronics, including: Semiconductors, BLE/wireless chips, modules, and software/programming categories. You will leverage strong negotiation skills, technical aptitude, and relationship-building abilities. You will understand global markets for raw materials and possess technical expertise in secondary processes to develop global strategies that leverage Medtronic’s purchasing power to deliver cost-effective and innovative solutions to each operating unit. You will focus on multiple tiers in your supplier’s supply chain to maximize leverage and awareness, ensuring compliance and continuity. You should strive for the highest possible reliability and quality in our products, processes, and systems, being accountable, having a voice, and taking action. Responsibilities Advocate on behalf of the supply management function with operating units and partners to support core business objectives. Prepare and manage complex contract negotiations with new or existing suppliers to facilitate favorable terms. Own and execute negotiations in collaboration with business partners (e.g., SaaS, ELAs, cloud commitments, license agreements) using benchmarking, financial modeling, and usage forecasting. Identify and develop business cases for a healthy year-over-year cost reduction pipeline with suppliers through lean, should costing, process improvement, tier 2 strategies, and yield improvements. Perform market analysis to identify the best cost country sourcing for the category and provide guidance to technical sourcing and engineering with supplier innovations; proactively develop forward buy agreements where appropriate. Utilize knowledge of the end-to-end embedded software/firmware market to define and manage category strategies with suppliers. Manage supplier relationships and drive year-over-year performance improvements in quality, delivery, and cost to ensure governance and continuous improvement. Analyze quotations with working knowledge of IT concepts (cloud infrastructure, software licensing, SaaS, cybersecurity, IT service agreements) to select or recommend new suppliers. Lead end-to-end supplier lifecycle management, including onboarding, performance optimization, and offboarding, with focus on risk mitigation and value creation. Rationalize the supplier base through stratification, market analysis, supplier development, and consolidation. Support supplier quality audits to ensure robust process controls and capabilities. Conduct supply chain risk reviews and identify new approaches for assignments. Identify metrics, tools, and processes to optimize sourcing and supplier activities, collaborating with team members to drive implementation. Must Have: Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree required Minimum of 5 years of relevant category management experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience Nice to Have Strong negotiation strategy development and collaboration skills Understanding of wireless technologies (BLE, NFC, WiFi) Experience developing category strategies, contract reviews and negotiations, lean manufacturing, business case development, Best Cost Country sourcing, and regulatory environment experience with strong presentation skills Experience with lean manufacturing in a manufacturing environment is a plus Experience in low-volume, high-mix product environments Negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills; strong organization and project management Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, analytics, and SAP Ability to travel to vendor locations (domestic and international) Physical Job Requirements The above statements describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees in this position and are not an exhaustive list of responsibilities and skills. We provide full compensation details to eligible candidates and offer a range of benefits designed to support you at every career and life stage. Salary ranges for U.S. locations (excl. Puerto Rico): $110,400.00 - $165,600.00. This position is eligible for the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States and may vary based on experience, education, market conditions, and location.
