Overview
The Nathan S. Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research (NKI) is a dedicated research facility of the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) located in Orangeburg, NY. NKI is affiliated with NYU Langone Medical Center. Applications are invited for a full-time Research Scientist 3 - Electrophysiologist within NKI’s Emotional Brain Institute (EBI). Duties and Responsibilities
Performing patch-clamp and other electrophysiological recordings in support of projects led by multiple principal investigators. Implementing and optimizing voltage dye and related optical techniques as needed. Collaborating with researchers from different laboratories to design, troubleshoot, and execute experiments tailored to specific project goals. Maintaining accurate records of experimental procedures and results. Training and assisting laboratory personnel in electrophysiological methods when appropriate. Managing experimental timelines to balance and prioritize requests from different investigators. Ensuring proper maintenance of electrophysiology equipment. Contributing to manuscripts, presentations, and grant applications by providing high-quality data and technical input. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and four years of professional research experience in an appropriate field. Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in neuroscience, physiology, or a related field. Demonstrated expertise in patch-clamp electrophysiology. Experience with voltage-sensitive dyes and related imaging techniques. Strong organizational and time management skills to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication skills to interact with principal investigators, postdoctoral fellows, and students across EBI. Flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse experimental needs across several laboratories. Additional Information

Base pay range: $96,336.00/yr - $121,413.00/yr. The range is provided by OMH; actual pay will be based on your skills and experience. Seniority level
