The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive officer of Circle of Friends, providing visionary leadership, operational oversight, and strategic direction in alignment with the organization\'s mission and values. Reporting to and working closely with the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for ensuring financial sustainability, program effectiveness, and organizational growth. The ED will foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, and impact among staff, volunteers, families, school districts, and community stakeholders. As the primary spokesperson and advocate for Circle of Friends, the ED will enhance the organization\'s visibility and strengthen partnerships to drive long-term success. The ED reports to the Board of Directors. Position Summary

The ED reports to the Board of Directors. Key Responsibilities

Leadership, Management, & Strategy

Provide visionary leadership, supervision, and support to staff, fostering a collaborative, trauma-informed, and disability-affirming organizational culture. Develop and execute the organization\'s strategic plan, aligning operations with mission-driven goals. Foster a culture of innovation, inclusion, and excellence within the organization. Maintain a strong partnership with the Board of Directors by providing timely updates, strategic insights, and governance support to inform decision-making. Will be required to meet with the Board of Directors regularly after normal business hours. Steward the organization\'s resources responsibly, ensuring efficiency and sustainability. Oversee staff recruitment, development, and retention, including implementation of an annual professional learning plan for teachers, paraeducators, therapists, and clinical providers. Build and maintain a program quality dashboard to track key performance indicators such as student outcomes, IEP/IFSP compliance, staff training completion, and family satisfaction. Financial Stewardship & Fundraising

Lead financial planning, budget management, and fiscal accountability in partnership with the Board. Develop and execute a fundraising strategy including grants, contracts with school districts, major donor cultivation, and annual campaigns. Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, funders, and community partners to secure financial support. Negotiate and manage district contracts and tuition agreements, ensuring sustainability and alignment with district and payer expectations. Ensure compliance with all state, federal, school district, and nonprofit regulatory requirements. Lead capital campaign efforts and other major fundraising initiatives. Operations & Program Management

Provide oversight for the development, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality programs and services. Ensure operational excellence and efficiency, including human resources management, policy implementation, and infrastructure development. Recruit, mentor, and manage key staff, including the Education Director, Outreach Director, Development Director, and other team members, ensuring a strong, mission-driven, collaborative workforce. Establish and maintain policies that promote organizational efficiency and effectiveness. Lead hiring, performance management, and professional development efforts for staff and volunteers. Community Engagement & Public Relations

Build and sustain meaningful relationships with community leaders, donors, and external partners. Serve as the organization\'s ambassador and primary spokesperson, ensuring the effective communication of its mission, programs, and impact with stakeholders including families, school districts, agencies, and the broader community. Develop and implement strategic marketing and communication initiatives to increase awareness and engagement. Represent Circle of Friends in public forums, advocating for the needs of the community and the individuals the organization serves. Engage actively with Lane County partners and represent the organization in county-wide coalitions and state-level advocacy. Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred) in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Special Education, Educational Leadership or a related field preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, or program development, with a demonstrated ability to drive organizational success. Proven expertise in financial management, including budgeting, fundraising, and donor relations. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, engage, and develop teams. Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and public-speaking skills. Passion for Circle of Friends\' mission and a deep commitment to community impact. Compensation & Benefits
