Position Summary Reporting directly to the Director of Talent Development and Workforce Innovation, the Employment Coordinator – Young Professional Institute will develop employer partnerships with employers who will offer OBT program participants earning their HSE the opportunity to apply for open positions. The Employment Coordinator is expected to bring in a number of partnerships and to develop additional partnerships aligned with the interests of OBT participants and the sectors served: technology, construction, and health care. The Employment Coordinator will prepare participants for interviews, including resume development, cover letter development, and interview skills. This role will specifically work with our high school equivalency program participants to support their transition to employment opportunities.

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities

Engage in biweekly employment services meetings and meetings with key youth employment staff from each youth employment program to share job orders, discuss work readiness activities, and provide feedback related to job readiness.

Conduct comprehensive intakes and assessments on participants to evaluate employment history, education, skills, qualifications, support service needs, and vocational interests.

Prepare participants individually and in groups for job searching, resume writing, application completion, and interview readiness for job orders.

Complete weekly data entry, including case notes, new intakes, and employment verifications.

Design and create recruitment strategies, such as hiring events and on-site employer events.

Responsible for a minimum of 10 placements per month at a minimum of 20 hours of work per week.

Assist in identifying and developing services and programs not currently being offered.

Provide specialized support to high school equivalency program participants, understanding their unique educational journeys and employment preparation needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Possess a comprehensive job bank (Tech, Retail, Hospitality, Construction, and/or Healthcare) and the ability to leverage relationships with employers to meet the employment needs of OBT's client base.

Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

A passionate commitment to OBT's mission and vision.

A track record of success in preparing individuals for entry into and persistence in both subsidized and unsubsidized employment. Preference given to applicants with a cadre of employer partners already committed to working with them.

Knowledge of New York City labor market trends and employer-based tax incentives.

The ability to establish strong working relationships with team members, colleagues, participants, and external stakeholders.

Strong data management and data tracking skills; demonstrated experience managing data collection, analysis, and reporting.

College access background required, with demonstrated experience supporting individuals in navigating pathways to higher education and career advancement.

Education and Experience/Training

High School Diploma required, BA preferred.

A minimum of 3 years' experience in job development, workforce development, business development, marketing, or recruiting.

College access background required, including experience working with individuals pursuing high school equivalency credentials and supporting their transition to post-secondary education and/or employment.

Salary

$60-65,000
