The Marriott San Diego Gaslamp Quarter is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Engineering to join their dynamic and innovative Maintenance team. The position is responsible for assisting the Director in the operations, repair and maintenance of all buildings, machinery and equipment of the property. The role includes ensuring proper operation, maintenance and repair of HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, irrigation, life safety, electrical and mechanical systems, and coordinating PM programs to ensure reliability, safety and comfort of staff and guests. The position also includes supervision, training and management of Engineering staff. The position reports to the Director of Engineering. Note:

This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee. The franchisee is a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc., and controls all employment policies and practices. If you accept a position at this hotel, you will be employed by the franchisee and not by Marriott International, Inc. Responsibilities

Lead and execute all engineering and maintenance efforts. Coordinate and monitor all guest rooms, public spaces, equipment and Preventative Maintenance programs to ensure reliability, safety and comfort. Participate in public area walk-throughs with management to ensure proper maintenance and preventive maintenance processes. Manage and supervise Preventative Maintenance Program, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatments, pneumatics, control systems, water systems, boilers, refrigeration, compressors, etc. Oversee energy management of the property. Organize and manage maintenance and repair of the hotel; ensure safety and sanitation policies are followed. Establish relationships with vendors; monitor pricing, delivery, warranties, and upgrades; ensure quality and timely service. Implement OSHA and ADA programs to ensure compliance; manage Lock out/Tag out program. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of elevator operations, maintenance and inspections; understand hotel technology (TV, internet, phone systems, etc.). Install and maintain eyewash stations and emergency evacuation floor plans; conduct testing of fire and life-safety devices. Monitor and provide feedback on employee performance; handle disciplinary actions as needed and address complaints. Handle administrative duties related to interviewing, hiring, and performance appraisals. Maintain high standards of service quality and guest satisfaction; manage inventory of uniforms, supplies, and equipment. Prepare and post weekly schedules in alignment with guest needs and staff availability. Ensure associates are trained in fire regulations, safety programs, and related procedures; oversee training programs and modules. Monitor departmental expenses and stay aligned with budget goals; collaborate with other hotel areas to ensure guest satisfaction. Follow supervisor instructions and perform other duties as directed. Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year experience as engineering lead or supervisor. Minimum of 2 years hotel engineer experience; hotel maintenance background required. Technical knowledge in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, boilers, and refrigeration required. Experience with safety and sanitation policies; ability to implement and manage safety programs. Hourly full-time position eligible for benefits. Pay range: $35-$38 per hour, depending on experience.
