Overview
Senior Software Engineer – Data Lakehouse Platform at GEICO. This role focuses on the design, development, and implementation of high-performance, low-maintenance, and zero-downtime data infrastructure within the Data Lakehouse Platform team. You will work with the Staff Engineer to bring best open-source data infrastructure practices into GEICO. Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deploy scalable, resilient Data Lakehouse components Collaborate with the Staff Engineer to lead architecture sessions and reviews with peers and leadership Ensure the quality, usability, and performance of the solutions Evaluate and recommend new software tools and technologies to improve the Data Lakehouse platform Work with customers, team members, and other engineering teams to solve complex problems Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth and development of the engineering community Share best practices and improve processes within and across teams Stay up-to-date with the latest open-source projects, technologies, and trends, and participate in internal and external technology communities Key Responsibilities
Design and develop Data Lakehouse components using open-source technologies such as Apache Iceberg, Apache Polaris, and others Collaborate with the Staff Engineer to lead architecture sessions and reviews with peers and leadership Ensure the quality, usability, and performance of the Data Lakehouse solutions Evaluate and recommend new software tools and technologies to improve the Data Lakehouse platform Work with customers, team members, and other engineering teams to solve complex problems Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth and development of the engineering community Share best practices and improve processes within and across teams Qualifications
3+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on data infrastructure and platforms Experience with open-source table formats (Apache Iceberg, Delta, Hudi, or equivalent) Experience with open-source compute engines (Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Trino/Presto, or equivalent) Experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, or equivalent) Expertise in developing distributed systems that are scalable, resilient, and highly available Experience with container technology like Docker and Kubernetes platform development Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code In-depth knowledge of DevOps concepts and cloud architecture Experience in Azure Network (Subscription, Security zoning, etc.) or equivalent Salary and Benefits
Base pay range : $105,000.00/yr - $230,000.00/yr The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to determine the final rate. Factors include scope and responsibilities of the role, candidate experience, education and training, location, and market considerations.
